Received this e-mail today (8-26-22) from another happy Willardite on the Willard Ohio-Rediscovering History book. We still have a hand full left in town. Mick OBrien, Don Leininger and at Don Graham and Associates downtown as well as Sutton Bank. Only a few left if you want on $30. Here is the e-mail.
Rick, I got the book yesterday. Absolutely stunned it got here so fast. Intended to email you yesterday but I couldn’t tear myself away from the book. It is a masterpiece worth every penny I paid for it. Kudos to you and everyone else who had a hand in it. Also wanted to relay to you some of my highlights so far. On page 184, top left is a photo of Arnold’s Carry Out. When I was a little kid my Grandpa Baker would hold my hand and walk with me to this store and buy me a bag of roasted peanuts. What a great memory. Next on page 168 top left is a picture of Richard Hocker Coovert. My dad’s name is Richard Hocker Coovert, Jr. This is my Grandpa Coovert. This is the first time I have ever seen a picture of him! Or knew anything about him. He married Edna May Miller. Better known to me as Grandma Coovert who is one of the Cooverts that I mentioned worked at Pioneer in my first email to you. Their house was located on Rt. 103 just east of Pioneer Rubber Company. A drive through is located on that property now. Last highlight here but really got my attention. Page 531 at the bottom. Picture of Mr. Charles Casto teaching art class. I think that’s me bottom left with the dark shirt. Not 100% sure but possible. Looks like the art classroom at Willard Junior High somewhere around 1968. There’s more but I think I’ve taken up enough of your time. Thank you so much! Back to reading it some more.
